Dunaj, 2019
DANUBE - a modern and probably the most popular variety of Slovak newly bred wine, which we collected in 2019 in the nearby village of Vinohrady nad Váhom.
The Danube wine of the year 2019 is a quality of the selection of grapes, it had beautiful parameters, excellent sugar content, and it "stayed" in wooden older barriques for 14 months. It was maturing in wood that "colored" the aroma of this wine into strong fruit tones, dominated by the aroma of mulberry, blackberries and currant jam with a characteristic chocolate shade. The wine has an intense dark red opaque color, the taste of the wine is full, the overall fruity character with a subtle nuance of ground cocoa beans is noble. The typical manifestation is a soft and round tannin expression, at the same time the wine is predestined for several years of aging in the bottle, which is also helped by the relatively high alcohol content.
The Danube already belongs to the classic varieties under which the Slovak breeding legend Mrs. Dorota Pospíšilová, and its registration in the permitted varieties dates back to 1997. It was created gradually from the age of 50 by crossing the Muscat Bouchet varieties with Blue Portugal and Saint Laurent.
